Forest landowners will have a chance to learn more about the new standards of forest certification used by the American Forest Foundation at the Oregon Tree Farm System (OTFS) 2009 Annual Meeting, Nov. 23 at the World Forestry Center in Portland. Among the presenters are:

Upcoming workshop will explore wildlife management in working forests

OFRI Annual Report 2008-2009

How do you address invasive species on your land? Why is wildlife important? How do economics play into your management decisions? Practical Applications of Wildlife Management on Working Forests is the title of an upcoming workshop in Eugene that will explore tough management issues like these facing wildlife biologists and forests everyday.

In addition to the general session, participants will offer an interactive species fair and a chance to meet with wildlife experts.

Woody Biomass Energy

Woody Biomass EnergyThis 16-page report examines opportunities for the conversion of woody biomass from forest thinning into “green” energy, biofuels and other bioproducts. It also looks at some short-term potential for moving Oregon forward in developing an industry tied to the removal of woody biomass from overcrowded forests.
