Impetus:  In 2007, we held a workshop investigating what makes a quality early seral forest opening ( http://www.reo.gov/ecoshare/ccamp/Good_Forest_Opening.shtml).  Though there has been general agreement this is a necessary component of our landscapes, there are obstacles to managing for it.  This workshop seeks to explore this issue.
