Most include the Project Learning Tree and Project Wild curricula.  Fall workshops are offered in Rainier, Burns, Canyonville, Sherwood, Portland and Sunriver.  Substitute reimbursement is available as needed, provided by ONREP. Careers in Forestry program online registration open

High school students can expand their horizons regarding the many careers available to them in forestry and natural resources.

Now in its third year, the Careers in Forestry program provides an exciting opportunity for high school classrooms. During an interactive presentation that fits into one class period (~50 minutes), students learn about the importance of Oregon’s forests and career pathways in Oregon’s forest sector – both for high school grads and those who expect to pursue advanced degrees. The classroom presentation can be customized to fit your students’ needs and abilities and can also help students meet the new graduation requirements applicable to the Essential Skills and Career Related Learning Standards.

The program is free of charge and registration is now open. Classroom presentations are typically scheduled between mid-November and the end of March. In an attempt to group schools by geographic locations, general registration guidelines are listed below but there is some flexibility. All date blocks not listed below are considered open.

About the Oregon Forest Resources Institute

The Oregon Legislature created the Oregon Forest Resources Institute (OFRI) in 1991 to improve public understanding of the state’s forest resources and to encourage environmentally sound forest management through training and other educational programs for forest landowners. OFRI is funded by a dedicated harvest tax on forest products producers.
