Friends of Tryon Creek State Park offers educational opportunities at Tryon Creek State Natural Area, an urban forest in southwest Portland. A variety of educational programs investigating different elements of forest ecology are available. The Friends offer morning-only and full-day field trips, teacher workshops and teacher hikes at the park. They also bring traveling programs to metro-area schools. Field trips consist of indoor, hands-on lessons and longer, trail-based hikes in the forest. Traveling programs use interactive activities to explore forest ecology topics in the classroom. Participants must preregister for both field trips and traveling programs.
