Emissions
Drying veneers can gereate emission that contain hdrycoarbons,
which can produce a blue haze in the atmosphere. Local officials
and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) set standards for
such emissions. Douglas-fir and pondersoa pine can be the worst
offenders during the drying process. Low resin content softwoods
cause less of a problem. Careful control of the temperature of
the dryers can significantly reduce these emissions.
